Realisation:
The largest in Russia maker of surgery equipment Optima asked designers to develop an innovative medical complex.
The project began with a 4-week video-ethnographic design research aimed at identifying different types of laparoscopic surgery conducted in hospitals of St. Petersburg. After observing healthcare professionals and patient treatments, Lumiknows set out to design an innovative medical complex that was not only aesthetically differentiated from similar hospital equipment, but applied a unique principle of operating.
The result is a system that enables surgical teams consisting of different specialists work as a whole one, prevents possible errors, significantly reduces duration of surgery which, in turn, decreases negative effects of being under long anesthesia.
